Member of the German Bundestag (National parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany) Johannes Wagner visited the internationally active laboratory Pachmann in Bayreuth to gain an insight into the challenges facing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the medical sector. The visit focused on the urgent need for government support in the face of new regulatory requirements which place SMEs under considerable financial pressure.
CEO Dr. med. Ulrich Pachmann explained: "Our industry makes a significant contribution to healthcare and innovation in Germany. Without appropriate support from the government, many companies could find it difficult to meet the new requirements. This could jeopardize their financial stability."
The globally active and accredited laboratory Pachmann offers individualized diagnostic procedures in the field of oncology, cooperates with universities and is very active in research. A few years ago, targeted funding was provided for this area, but this has since been discontinued. "This funding was of great importance to us and many other companies," emphasizes Dr. med. Ulrich Pachmann. "Without this support, we are facing considerable challenges."
During his visit, Johannes Wagner showed great understanding for the concerns of medical SMEs and emphasized their central importance: "It is important that we find ways to help these companies. This includes the possibility of applying for new funding in order to be able to make the necessary investments. Otherwise, Germany risks being overtaken in international competition and losing a decisive advantage."
Labororatory Pachmann is urging the German government to act quickly and develop targeted support programs. Only through sustainable promotion and financial support medical companies can meet the new requirements without jeopardizing their existence. This is crucial in order to secure the innovative strength and competitiveness of this sector in the long term.
